Ostrom Award
The International Social Cognition Network (ISCON) in collaboration with the Person Memory Interest Group (PMIG) is seeking nominations for the 2026 Thomas M. Ostrom Award for Career Contribution to Social Cognition.
Each year, this award recognizes outstanding lifetime contributions to theory and research in social cognition. To be eligible a scholar must be currently living and at least 25 years post PhD (awards are not given posthumously).
The award is meant to recognize scholarly achievement, but also significant contributions to the discipline in ways that go beyond important papers. This includes (but is not limited to) excellence in mentoring, teaching, facilitating collegial interaction through organizing conferences, writing books, editing activities, and leadership for the field. These criteria are modeled after the things exemplified in Tom Ostrom’s career. The recipient receives a plaque commemorating this recognition and is invited to deliver a keynote talk at the PMIG meeting.
Committee members are comprised of faculty who regularly attend the annual PMIG meeting and are selected with consideration of their demographic, career stage, and research diversity. The committee for 2026 is Galen Bodenhausen, Ken Fujita, Keith Maddox, and Kristina Olson.
To self-nominate or nominate a person for the award send 1) a 1-3 page letter detailing the nominee’s activities and impact in one or more areas listed in the criteria detailed above, and 2) a vita for the nominee. Send these to Gordon Moskowitz: gbm@lehigh.edu by March 15, 2026.
